1. Who we are
Mindletter is operated by Lukas Weichselbraun, Polan 8, 9815 Reisseck, Austria. You can reach us at support@mindletter.com.
2. What data we collect
- Account data: email address, display name, and handle you provide during sign-up.
- Content: insights, quotes, and other content you create on Mindletter.
- Usage data: pages visited, browser type, device type, and IP address (collected via Vercel Analytics).
- Cookies: a session cookie to keep you logged in. No third-party tracking cookies.
3. Why we collect it
- To provide and operate the service (account management, content storage, email digests).
- To send you magic-link login emails.
- To improve the service through anonymous analytics.
4. How we store your data
Your data is stored using Turso (libSQL database) and hosted on Vercel. Data may be processed in the EU and US. We do not sell your data to third parties.
5. Third-party services
- Vercel: hosting and analytics.
- Turso: database storage.
- Resend: transactional emails (magic links, Mindletter digests).
- DeepL: translates insights when a viewer reads one in a language outside their preferred reading languages. Only insights you’ve already made visible to that viewer (publicly or via a circle) are sent — private content and your author-only notes are never translated. We currently use DeepL’s free tier, whose terms permit submitted text to be used to improve their translation models.
- Google Books: when you attach a book as the source of a quote or insight, we search Google’s public catalog so you can pick the right edition. Only the search text you type is sent — no insight content, and no account information.
5a. Affiliate links
Mindletter may, in future, include affiliate links on book and other source pages — meaning if you click through to a retailer (e.g. Amazon) and purchase, we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. These links exist to help sustain Mindletter and are never used to influence what content, insights, or sources are shown to you. Where affiliate links appear, they will be clearly labelled.
6. Your rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@mindletter.com.
7. Data retention
We keep your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove all associated data within 30 days.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice.
